Judging from my Bay Area visit in 2016 I was sure that Hillary Clinton would win.
But recently I’ve been to Florida so naturally now I think Trump is going to win.
And then as some people say there will be a re-shake of US establishment with people from (allegedly or not) Epstein and P.Diddy lists going down, and some people from Peter Thiel, Elon Musk and Paypal Mafia lists going up.
What this means for Ukraine and stability in Europe we’ll see. Trump says he is friends with putin, but under Democrats Ukraine certainly was not helped enough to win, just enough to continue fighting. Fighting with its own people against a huge russian empire who additionally gets weapons, supplies and even people on the ground from its new axis allies. Just look at how much US and Allies were helping Soviet Union during WW2 and compare it to the scale of Ukraine aid.
US strategists seem to follow old circa 60s policies where it is a bad thing to topple Moscow government which allegedly results in multiple smaller nations with nuclear weapons which will be difficult to manage. This is a pile of outdated bullshit in my opinion and a huge geopolitical mistake resulting in so much suffering nowadays. Get up to speed with some history lectures from Timothy Snider ffs as you have your understanding of the region all wrong. Understand that Ukraine, its farmers, soldiers and engineers have been a major driving force of the Soviet Union, with Kyiv not Moscow being the historical metropolis and cultural centre. Understand ffs that Russia is not equal to Soviet Union. Nothing wrong will come out of you toppling the kleptocratic putins clique, the whole region starting with russians themselves will say thanks.
Meanwhile internally some people close to inner circles in Ukraine have been saying for 2-3 months already that there will be a cease-fire / armistice treaty with russia as soon as this October / November. This was very hard to believe back then but now president Zelensky and his office have started to openly signal some preparations which makes it a probability for this year or the beginning of 2025. Any armistice retaining current land situation will be a very hard pill for Ukrainian society who have lost loved ones, homes and years of life to this war, with many being sustained by the hope of a justice serving victory a la WW2.
Is there such thing as a ‘lesser evil’? If so, how do you recognise one?
